I’m taking a tablet to cure bacterial skin infection (got red pimples on skin).Is it ok to take birth-pill now?
I have to take a contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy. The pill contains “levonorgestrel” – a progestogen which helps prevent the implantation of the egg in the uterus and avoids the beginning of pregnancy.
I can’t stop taking the bacteria killing pill and also have to take that contraceptive pill. Will there be any problem if I take both?
If your pill just contains a progestin (mini pill) and no estrogen then all will be well. Antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of the estrogen portion of oral birth control pills. No problem taking both. You may want to use a backup form of contraception just to be on the safe side.
